Puppy asleep at the clinic

At St.Catharines Animal Hospital we realize that every one of our pets have their own unique needs.

We strongly recommend that each of our pets receive their puppy / kitten vaccines and checkups, as well as an annual checkup each year. The yearly checkups help us ensure your pets are still in good health, and help our doctors determine if there may be any underlying issues that should be addressed. Ear cleanings, anal gland expressions, and nail trims can all be completed during your pets wellness exams.

Annual Vaccines, Yearly screenings for Heartworms, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasma for Dogs, Flea/ Tick and Heartworm preventatives, and deworming are all part of our preventative care. We are constantly researching the newest and best options for your pets welfare, and want to share new advances with you.

For Dogs

Canine annual core vaccines will help protect them from Parvovirus, Distemper, Adenovirus, and Parainfluenza. Your pets annual rabies vaccine would also be done at this time. Additionally our doctor’s will go over the optional vaccines with you, that suit you and your dog’s lifestyle. These vaccines include the Bordetella vaccines to protect from Kennel Cough, the Leptospirosis vaccine, and the Lyme disease vaccine.

For Cats

Feline annual core vaccines will help protect them from Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia. All of these viruses can infect both indoor and outdoor cats which is why we recommend these annual vaccines. The rabies vaccine is also part of your cats annual vaccination. The optional vaccine for felines is for Feline Leukemia Virus which can be easily transferred from one cat to another by something as simple as sharing the same food dish.
